While I was watching the series I thought the singer of this song (The Song of the wind) was a woman... I was so wrong. It could have fooled anyone. his (Jo Sung Mo) voice is so effeminate. The song was really great though I didn't understand what it means at first.

While watching, I can't help but picture or see filipino actors that look (slightly) of Moon Geun Young (Shin Yoon Bo) as Sarah Geronimo and Lee Joon (Shin Young Bok) as Allan Paule.

Now this part I didn't do. I was fortunate to have access to the internet and used the Precinct Finder of COMELEC.

 

Now that voting is automated, the biggest problem we've encountered is not on the voting itself but on the crowd control and the queuing system. Here, the voters are experiencing slight confusion on where line to fall in. The voters are sorted into 9 precincts per room which they termed as Clustered precinct. I think there are almost 1000 voters per room.No authorities are informing or assisting the voters on what to do. I think they (authorities) just assumed that voters know what to do because of the voter's education drives being broadcast or posted on various forms of media. The voters just took it upon themselves to organized the line. Although there are some run of the mill "balahuras and balasubas" (shameless people) who cut in the line, people posing as senior citizens and others. I even encountered a kapal muks (nervy) woman who stole a mineral water (intended only for the election officers). She brought her son with her. The kid asked her mother to give him water near the doorway. At first the mother asked an election officer if she can give a bottle of mineral water to her son. The officer politely said that she's sorry because the bottles are all accounted for the personnel (and besides there are refreshments stands outside of the precinct she can easily asked us to save her spot on the line.) The woman responded sheepishly with a smile but when the officer turns her back the woman took a bottle of mineral water. People saw what she did. She just responded with "hindi naman mahahalata" (I'm sure she won't notice) with a smug face as she handed the mineral water to her kid. Kapal muks talaga!!! The woman doesn't even look naghihikahos (poor) in fact based from what she's telling her friends (also in the line) she has a car and air-conditioned house. The kid at his age , he already understood what her mother has done. He'll grow up thinking  that taking advantage of other people is ok as long as they won't notice it. Now if these are our new generation, I can clearly see how our future will end up. I can't help but wonder if our corrupt politicians grew up with the same kind of parent's or guardians.

 

 There are only 4 personnel.The man on the white shirt and the woman in pink shirt verifies the identity of the voter. The problem here is they are not organized.The voter's list are not arranged and because the verifiers are having a hard time looking for the name of the voter the list was unstapled so the voter's can help out in finding their names. Is this even allowed?

Then on the next table the woman in red shirt got confused with the voter's nagging and she because she can't handle the crown she allowed other voters to get their own precinct form to sign. There is no clear line. Both the in and out voters are mixed and the officers are having a hard time in controlling them.

The officer in charge of the voting area was having problems with disorderly voter's they don't surrender their folders to her. Instead they give it to people they know so they will be next to receive ballots even though there were already voters waiting in line. Markers were also pocketed. The officer was pleading to the voters to surrender the markers because they only have limited supplies and those are the only markers that will work on the ballots. Absolutely no consideration for other's properties.Witnessing these flares me up! In a perfect world, people are looking out for each other. But this world is not perfect so it is people looking out for themselves. How sad... Makarma sana kayo mga balahura. (Hope karma will bite you in the ass!)

Step 4 have to wait because in this picture the woman in white nervously laughing saying "hehe makulong naku po kanyan" (harhar I might get imprisoned now). She's the Tech Support from smartmatic. As she enters the room, she was on the phone describing to her supervisor what  went wrong with the PCOS machine. Actually, before the Tech Support arrived the machine only encountered paper jam after "nomnoming" (being fed with) 101 ballots. That is easy to fix says the IT specialist (just a voter) who is now reading the manual of the PCOS machine.We are both willing to help the officer to fix it but the Officer was reluctant because I think they are not allowed to troubleshoot the machine without the SmartMatic Tech Support which is totally understandable.As for the Tech Support it is not totally her fault. Base from media reports, almost all Tech support don't know how to troubleshoot the machines. That only means that the fault is on their supervisor or whoever is training them.

After they removed the back-up flash card and fix other stuff including shaking the ballot box (oh and by the way, we're told before that the ballot box should be translucent so that we can see the shadow silhouette of the ballot being fed... so what happened?).

After a few minutes, tuloy ang ligay (to be continued...) on with step 4.

Same with step 2-3 unorganized.

 

We started at 7:00 am finished at 10:47am. 3 hours and 47 minutes of patience in exchange for 6 years of (hopefully) worthwhile administration. 

Despite all the can of worms we've took from our first ever automated election, over all it was not that bad. It's just natural to encounter problems from first time events. The next election, we will be more prepared and equip to handle problems that will arise. And also let's not forget that the "evil doers" also now know how the automation works; they can now create a new automated cheat system. We should not be complacent with the existing security features. After this election, COMELEC and Smartmatic should work on the disabled features of the machines and device a queuing system that will work.

Now that campaigning is over.

And lastly but definitely cannot be considered as the least is our  self- proclaimed Mother of Pampanga, wife of husband suspected Jueteng Lord, Kumare of President Gloria Magtatagal Arroyo, Former SP Board Member Lilia "Nanay Baby" Pineda who is offering compassionate and honest service to the Kapampangans.

Hmmm... try to decide try to decide if  I really want to go out and Vote...

After voting at our local school here I ended up voting no one for the

Gubernatorial slot. Last election I voted for Among Ed I swayed my 

family and relatives to vote for him for good governance and 

transparency but I didn't know we were also voting for his Provincial 

Administrator Vivian Dabu. 

My family said, "last election we tried your bet now lets try the other

one. Regardless if they do illegal business at least they are helping 

the less fortunate with their money.
 

WoW! CAn you believe this???!!! Oh well we'll see. Based from experience life is not on black and white pictures like the silent movies before. Life is full of colors it add vibrancy and movement to our life especially if you view it in High Def.

Mother's Day Blessing with a friendly reminder from our local Gubernatorial Candidate (take note "reminder" not campaigning)

 Fr. Mar of Good Shepherd Church bless all the mother's attending the mass.

It is the practice of our parish priest to invite local candidates to let us know about their campaign platforms after the mass. Each were given 5 minutes to give their speech. Last Sunday mass we have the Bacolor Mayoralty Candidates. One of them,
Jose Maria “Jomar” Hizon brought us a pasalubong (donation) a fire truck. Thanks Man! That coming out of your pocket really appreciated. Though appreciation won't mean it will equate to a vote.

Gubernatorial Re-electionist Among Ed Panlilio reminding us to vote wisely for tomorrow's election. He said we should not be swayed by our religious leaders in choosing our candidates. Hmmm... OK sure... Y not. haha.

While on our way home, we overheard people's reaction and comments as they received and read the flyers of Among Ed. One of them said "Sabi da ing paring ini potang ating manyad saup kaya sasabyan namu pangadi dana kayu mu pu. (They said this priest will only say "I will pray for you" if you ask for help)"
 Wooh! Though crowd huh?! I've been hearing this a lot too. For me if the issue is going around for too long and in great numbers, then there must be a truth in it even just a speck.

By the way, Lilia "Nanay Baby" Pineda (Pampanga’s self-declared mother), should've been there so she can receive God's blessings. hehe ;)

Instant Gulaman

How to make instant Gulaman (Jelly)

Just follow the instruction in the packet of the Instant Gulaman you are using. ;P

I make this in 3 liters and store it in the fridge so I can have gulaman anytime I want. It is great for samalamig, halo halo, and buko pandan especially this hot summer days.

When I eat this it takes me back to my high school days when I eat a block of gulaman drizzled with condense milk served at the school canteen. I just can't remember if it is in Sacre or Chevalier. I guess both served this dessert.

In this batch I added green tea for added benefits (detoxifying). I usually eat this when I'm on a diet (It is 100% seaweeds called agar agar). I don't put sugar in it so there is no added calories. Every liter is only 73 calories that. I prefer this recipe as plain (no sugar) so that I can control the taste of the recipes that I will be using the gulaman. It has no calories, no carbohydrates, no sugar and no fat, and is 80-percent fiber. It absorbs glucose in the stomach, passes through the digestive system quickly and inhibits the body from retaining and storing excess fat. Its water absorbing properties also aids in waste elimination.

1. Agar agar absorbs bile, and by doing so, causes the body to dissolve more cholesterol.
2. Improves digestion and waste elimination.
3. Reduce cholesterol and help you feel full, which will help you lose unwanted weight.
   
4. Helps in controlling arthritis.

nanka (Tag., Bis.);
jack fruit (Engl.).

Origin:

The jackfruit or Langka, is cultivated throughout the Philippines at low and medium altitudes, and some regions is spontaneous. It is not a native of the archipelago but is of prehistoric introduction from Malaya or tropical Asia. It also occurs in India to Malaya, and is now cultivated in most tropical countries.

Uses:

• The young fruits are eaten as vegetables (ginataang-langka-with-turmeric)
  
• The pulp or flesh (lamukot) surrounding the seeds, is rich yellow sweet and aromatic, and when ripe, is eaten straight or cooked and preserved. It makes good preserves or other sweets.
  
• The seeds are eaten boiled or roasted.
  
• The latex of the tree is used as birdlime, and if heated makes an excellent cement for broken China.
  
• The bark is sometimes made into rope and cloth. The wood is used locally to a limited extent as a yellow dye. The unripe fruit, according to Nadkarni, is generally used in the preparation of pickles in India.

Health Benefits:

• High carbohydrate content, and indicate that it is nutritious. It is, however, deficient in calcium and iron.
  
• The seeds are very rich in starch, but for us sources of calcium and iron.
• In the Philippines the ash of the leaves, after burning, is applied on wounds and ulcers as a dried or cicatrizant. It is sometimes mixed with coconut oil as an ointment for the same purpose. Kirtikar and Basu, Chopra, Nadkarni, and Dey reports that the leaves are used in skin disease.
• The decoction of the root is used in diarrhea and for fever. The root is also useful in skin diseases. Daruty say that the roots are antiasthmatic.
• The milky juice of the tree is used in glandular swelling, and in snakebite. Mixed with vinegar and applied to these swellings and to abscesses, it promotes absorption or suppuration.
• the ripe fruit is demulcent, nutritive, and laxative.
  
• unripe fruit is astringent.
  
• Stuart reports that the pulp envelops or arils of the seeds are considered by the Chinese to be cooling, tonic, and nutritious.
  
• The starch of the seeds is given in billions colic
• The roasted seeds have an aphrodisiac action.
• Jack-fruit is rich in dietary fiber, which makes it a good bulk laxative. The fiber content helps to protect the colon mucous membrane by decreasing exposure time and as well as binding to cancer causing chemicals in the colon.
• Fresh fruit is an excellent source of Vitamin-A, which has powerful antioxidant properties and is essential for vision. Vitamin A is also required for maintaining integrity of mucus membranes and skin and to boost immunity. Consumption of natural fruits rich in vitamin-A known to protect from lung and oral cavity cancers.

Tip:
If you're going to cook the seeds in the microwave oven poke them with a knife first else they will explode like a popcorn... See for yourself ;)

The seeds taste like castañas or chestnuts.

You're Beautiful

Just finish watching the series yesterday. I came across this on April 27, 2009. At first I was goggling for a summary story of Daisy Siete's Adam or Eve. After I've seen a commercial of their new series, I thought that the story was interesting. It's great that for a change they're delivering new and original stories and not a remake of some asian-novela or old tagalog movies (that they turned into series)... boy was I disappointed after reading this page.

So why will I settle for a copycat if I can enjoy the original. Thanks to "TheLunaticGirl" for the article.
